In a promising step towards improving Vietnam's population health, Khanh Hoa province's Department of Population and Family Planning partnered with Gene Solutions on April 10th.

Khanh Hoa province signed a memorandum of understanding with Gene Solutions to implement the NIPT testing socialization program

Together, they launched the "Socialization of NIPT testing for all fetuses" program. This program targets pregnant women facing financial hardship in outlying areas, ensuring they have access to non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). NIPT is a valuable tool for early detection of serious genetic diseases in babies.

Following the signing ceremony, Gene Solutions generously donated 80 triSure NIPT tests to pregnant women residing in Khanh Hoa province. These tests screen for prevalent chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus, such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Patau syndrome, and Turner syndrome. Additionally, they can identify potential congenital hemolytic disease.

Suppose a woman receives a positive test result, indicating a need for further confirmation through amniocentesis or chorionic villus biopsy. In that case, Gene Solutions will provide financial support ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 million VND to cover these diagnostic procedures.

This program is currently underway and will continue until May 31, 2024. The national initiative, "Socializing NIPT testing for all pregnant women, improving the quality of the Vietnamese population." aims to distribute a total of 2,000 triSure NIPT tests to expecting mothers across Vietnam.

In a complementary effort, Gene Solutions collaborated with the provincial Department of Population and Family Planning to host a scientific seminar on the same day. Titled "Updating the Application of Genetic Testing in Prenatal Screening and Diagnosis." The workshop aimed to equip medical staff with the latest knowledge and techniques. The training covered essential areas like sample collection, preservation, and transportation for NIPT.
